Fire Emblem If - Special Edition (Japan: ファイアーエムブレムif スペシャルエディション) is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the fourteenth entry in the Fire Emblem series, and the first to be released for the 3DS. The game is set in the fantasy world of Fódlan, where the player takes on the role of a mercenary who is tasked with defending their kingdom from a powerful enemy. The game features a branching story path, with the player's decisions affecting the outcome of the game. Players can choose to fight for either the Kingdom of Hoshido or the Empire of Nohr, or to remain neutral. Fire Emblem If - Special Edition includes all the content from the original game, as well as additional content, such as new characters, new maps, new weapons and new items. The game also features a new 'My Castle' mode, allowing players to customize their own castle and recruit allies from other players.
