Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (マリオ＆ソニック AT ロイヤルオリンピック) is a sports game developed by Sega Sports R&D and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is based on the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and features characters from both the Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog series. Players can choose from a variety of sports, including athletics, swimming, soccer, and beach volleyball, and compete against each other or against computer-controlled opponents. The game also features a variety of minigames, including rhythmic gymnastics and kart racing. The game supports both single-player and local multiplayer modes, with up to four players able to compete in the same game. Players can also take part in a variety of challenges, such as special events and tournaments, to earn medals and unlock new content.
