New Super Mario Bros. 2 (Europe) (En,Fr,Ge,It,Es,Nl,Po,Ru) is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. It is the sequel to the 2006 Nintendo DS game New Super Mario Bros., and is the fifteenth title in the Super Mario series. The game takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom, where Mario and Luigi must save Princess Peach from Bowser and his minions. The player controls Mario and Luigi, who must traverse a variety of levels, defeating enemies and collecting coins and power-ups along the way. The game features new power-ups, such as the Gold Flower, which turns Mario and Luigi into golden statues and allows them to throw golden fireballs. The game also introduces a new competitive multiplayer mode, allowing up to four players to compete against each other in a variety of minigames. In Japan, the game is known as Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japanese: スーパーマリオブラザーズ2).
