Pokémon X (ポケットモンスターX, Poketto Monsutā Ekkusu) is a role-playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console. The game is the sixth installment in the main Pokémon series and is a direct sequel to Pokémon Black and White. The game was released in Japan in October 2013 and was released in Europe in October 2013. In Pokémon X, the player takes on the role of a Pokémon Trainer and is tasked with exploring the Kalos region, catching, training and battling Pokémon. The game features new Pokémon, new forms of existing Pokémon, new moves, new abilities and new Mega Evolutions. The game also introduces a new type of Pokémon, the Fairy-type. The game also includes a new 3D graphical style, new music and improved battle mechanics. The game also includes a new online feature called the Player Search System (PSS) which allows players to connect with other players online and battle or trade Pokémon with them. The game also includes a new online feature called the Global Trade System (GTS) which allows players to trade Pokémon with other players around the world. Pokémon X is the first game in the main Pokémon series to feature 3D graphics and the first to feature Mega Evolution. The game also features a new type of Pokémon, the Fairy-type, which is super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon. The game also features new battle mechanics such as Sky Battles and Horde Encounters.
