Mario Kart 64 (Europe) (Rev 1) (Japanese title: マリオカート64) is a classic racing game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 console. The game was released in Japan in December 1996 and in the rest of the world in March 1997. In the game, the player takes control of one of eight Mario characters, each with their own unique vehicle, and races against seven other computer-controlled characters in a variety of courses. The game features a variety of items, power-ups, and obstacles that can be used to hinder or help the player. The game also features a multiplayer mode, allowing up to four players to race against each other. Mario Kart 64 has been praised for its graphics, controls, and overall gameplay, and is often considered to be one of the best games released for the Nintendo 64.
