It is the third installment in the Mortal Kombat series, following Mortal Kombat 3. The game was released in Europe in June 1997. It features a variety of characters from the previous games, as well as new ones. The game also features new special moves and fatalities for each character. The game also features new levels, such as the Pit III, which is a new version of the original Pit stage from the first Mortal Kombat game. The game also features a new gameplay mode called 'Aggressor Mode', which gives the player a slight advantage over their opponent.
