Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (USA) (Japanese title: ティー・ホーク・プロ・スケーター) is a skateboarding video game developed by Neversoft and published by Activision for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It is the first game in the Tony Hawk's series of sports games and focuses on the career of professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. Players take control of Tony Hawk or one of nine other professional skateboarders and skate around various levels based on real-world locations, performing tricks with the game's analogue control stick and buttons. The aim of the game is to complete a number of objectives in each level, such as collecting a certain number of items, performing a certain number of tricks, or reaching a certain score. The game was well-received, with critics praising its intuitive controls and vibrant visuals. It was followed by a number of sequels and spin-offs, and has been credited with popularizing the extreme sports genre.
