In Layton Gyosuwa Isanghan Maeul, the player takes on the role of a new character, namely Layton, as they explore the various Korea's in an attempt to find their way out. By doing so, they can find a way to join Layton's plot to save the country from the clutches of evil. Along the way, the player must fight through challenges in order to achieve their goals, all the while enjoying the various characters and events from Layton's past. The plot of the game is relatively simple; the player helps a character from Layton Gyosuwa, Jr.'s father, who tells them of a way to save the country from the clutches of the evil.
