Batman Returns is an action-adventure video game developed by Japanese game company Sega for the Sega Genesis console. It was published by Sega in Japan on October 15, 1992 and in North America on November 15, 1992. It is the sequel to the game Sonic Adventure and the first game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game is a sidescrolling platformer with elements of action. Players take control of Batman as he travels through different levels, fighting criminals and solving puzzles. The player can also use their Batmobile to explore the environment. The game was well-received by critics and was one of the best-selling games for the console.
