It was released in Europe in 1996 and in Japan in 1997. NHL Hockey is a two-player game where the player controls a goaltender and a defenseman. The goaltender must keep the other team from scoring goals and the defenseman must protect the goaltender. The game has a variety of different hockey rules, including a four-on-four game, a six-man game, and a face-off. NHL Hockey is one of the most popular Genesis games, with over two million copies sold.
