Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is a console game released in Japan and Korea in December 1991. It is the third and final game in the Sonic The Hedgehog series and is also the first game in the Sonic The Hedgehog 3 series to be developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. The game was ported to the Genesis in 1992. The game is set thirty years after the events of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and follows Sonic as he travels through different worlds, fighting Dr. Eggman and his robots. Along the way, Sonic meets various characters, including Tails, Amy Rose, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Silver the Hedgehog. The game features a variety of new and improved features over its predecessors. The most significant new feature is the ability to slow time and change the scenery, which was not possible before. Another new feature is the use of Sonic's rings to perform various actions, such as flying, swimming, and walking. The game received critical acclaim and is considered a classic by many.
