Super Bowl II was the first and only Super Bowl game to be played on the Sega Genesis. As the game's namesake, it was also the first time that the game was released in Japan. The game was also the first time that the Sega Genesis was used in an American football game. The game was released in Japan on October 1, 1990, and in the United States on February 6, 1991.
