Batman Returns is a 1988 action-adventure video game developed and published by Bandai Namco for the Super Nintendo. It is a sequel to the successful game Batman and Robin, and is the first of the three games in the Batman series. The game introduces the Batmobile, a new vehicle. The game's story follows Batman as he returns to Gotham to take on the Joker and his gang, led by the returning Poison Ivy. The game offers a new adventure mode, where the player must collect items and defeat enemies in traditional side-scrolling levels. The game is also the first in the Batman series to feature an in-game currency, the 'Bat Token', which can be used to purchase weapons and items.
