Super Nintendo game: Chessmaster, The is a strategy game for the Super Nintendo. It was developed by Rare and published by Bandai Namco. The game was released in Japan on October 5, 1992 and in North America on November 17, 1992. It is the third game in the Chessmaster series. The game is set in a feudal Japan setting and features a variety of chess-like games. It is one of the few Super Nintendo games to use the cartridge-based design. The player controls a character, usually a samurai, as they attempt to defeat enemies in turn-based battles. The player can also choose to play as a computer-controlled character. The player can make choices that affect the course of the game, such as which pieces to use, and the game ends when either the player or the computer loses all its pieces.
