Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a platform game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It was developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. The game features Sonic the Hedgehog playing as the player's choice of character, with the ability to explore two worlds: Yoshi's Island, which is a level-based adventure, and Sonic's own World, which is a race-based game. The game was released in North America on October 14, 1992 and in Europe on October 15, 1992. It was the first game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series to be released on two different platforms. The game was also the only game in the series to be released in both PAL and NTSC formats. The game was ported to the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and PC.
