Xbox game Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance is an action/adventure game set in the fictional country of Solidus. The game is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Metal Gear Solid. It was published by Konami in November 2000 and is the only game in the series to be released in the United States. Substance is a third-person action game set in a realistic, but still stylized, environment. The player controls Solidus, a secret agent employed by the government to fight a secret war against the evil organization referred to as the Patriots. The game is set in two different worlds: the real world of Los Angeles and the fictional Solidus, which is a research and development center for the Patriots. The player can choose to play as either Solidus or a friend or ally, and can interact with the environment in many ways. In addition to the standard action-adventure gameplay, Substance also features a variety of puzzle and platform games.
