The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説時のオカリナ) is a classic action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. It is the fifth installment in The Legend of Zelda series, and the first 3D installment. The game follows the protagonist, Link, as he attempts to stop the evil Ganondorf from obtaining the Triforce and conquering the kingdom of Hyrule. Players control Link from a third-person perspective, using a variety of weapons and items to fight enemies, solve puzzles, and progress through the game. The game features a variety of dungeons, each with their own puzzles and enemies. It also features a large overworld, which can be explored freely. The game also features a day-night cycle, which affects the behavior of some enemies and NPCs. The game was well-received upon release, and is considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It was re-released in 2003 for the GameCube as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest, which featured updated graphics and a harder difficulty.
