Nintendo All-Star! Dairantou Smash Brothers (日本語名: ニンテンドウオールスター！大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ) is a fighting game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. It is the first game in the Super Smash Bros. series and was followed by Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube in 2001. The game features characters from various Nintendo franchises, such as Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, and Pokémon, who battle each other in a variety of arenas. Players can use a variety of weapons and items to attack their opponents, as well as special moves based on the character's abilities. The game also features a single-player mode, in which the player battles computer-controlled opponents. Nintendo All-Star! Dairantou Smash Brothers was a critical and commercial success, selling over 3 million copies in Japan alone. The game has since become a cult classic, and has spawned numerous sequels, spin-offs, and other related media. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time.
