Resident Evil 2 (Biohazard 2 in Japan) is the second installment in the Resident Evil series of survival horror games. Developed and published by Capcom, the game was released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Resident Evil 2 follows the story of Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie police officer, and Claire Redfield, a college student, as they attempt to survive a zombie outbreak in the fictional Raccoon City. The game features a variety of puzzles, weapons, and enemies, as well as a branching story path with multiple endings. The game also includes a number of unlockable bonus modes, such as the 'Extreme Battle' mode, in which the player must survive against hordes of enemies. Resident Evil 2 is widely considered to be one of the greatest games of all time, and has sold over 5.5 million copies worldwide.
