Super Mario 64 (Japan) (Rev 3) (Shindou Edition) スーパーマリオ64 改 進藤版 is a classic 3D platformer game developed by Nintendo and released in 1996 for the Nintendo 64 console. It was the first 3D Mario game and the first game to use the N64's analog stick for movement. The game features Mario exploring a 3D world to collect stars and defeat Bowser. The game features a total of 120 stars, spread across 15 levels. The game also features a variety of power-ups, such as the Wing Cap, which allows Mario to fly, and the Metal Cap, which makes him invincible. Super Mario 64 also features several mini-games, such as the Mario Kart-style race and the Whomp's Fortress game. The game was a critical and commercial success and is considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It has been re-released on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo DS and the Virtual Console.
