Vigilante 8 (USA) (バイジランテ8, Bajirante 8) is a vehicular combat video game developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. It is the first game in the Vigilante 8 series. The game is set in an alternate timeline in the 1970s, where a group of eight vigilantes battle an evil oil conglomerate known as the 'Oil Monopoly Syndicate'. The game features eight playable characters, each with their own unique vehicle, and a variety of weapons and power-ups. The game also features a variety of modes, including a single-player story mode, a two-player split-screen mode, and a four-player multiplayer mode. In the story mode, the player must complete a series of missions in order to progress, ultimately leading to a showdown with the Syndicate's leader. The multiplayer mode allows up to four players to battle each other in a variety of arenas. Vigilante 8 is a fast-paced and action-packed game with a unique and memorable setting.
